Ruby, Arizona Ghost Town’s “Snob Hill” Houses: Cargill & Morton

“Snob Hill”, as you may guessed, was the area the wealthier families lived.   The two houses featured in this video are prime examples of this.

The Cargill house was the first before I headed up the hill.   Dan and Connie Cargill and their yellow tabby, Ghandi, lived there.   He was the accountant for the Eagle-Picher Lead Company.  In 1913, he also managed the mercantile.

Further up the hill is the Morton house.  Ed and his wife, Annie,  Morton lived there.  He was the General Manager and his wife the homemaker.  He enjoyed hosting bridge parties and ran the pool hall.

The Cargill house is currently not open to the public.  The Morton house, though, is.  And we’ll be enjoying it together as I walk inside.  It thrills me to walk on the floorboards of History.   Let’s enjoy it together!
