An Abandoned Fort, a Ghost Town & an Inauspicious Start

Let’s begin with the “inauspicious start”.  Sooooo, I was scheduled to fly out of Burlington, Vermont at 5:39 am Eastern Daylight Time on a Delta flight. Thick fog stopped that in its tracks.

I received a text from Delta just after midnight.  My flight was to be delayed by 9 hours.  Within 2 minutes, I was on the phone with Delta and on hold for only 5 minutes!

The customer service representative booked me on another early departing plane, but it was United Airlines!  Unfortunately, that flight was delayed by 6 hours and it was the same reason: heavy fog!

The United counter agents were amazing!  I would give them 5 out of 5.  The Delta counter agents, on the other hand… the female should be fired.  The day’s supervisor, all dressed in red, was sorely lacking.  I would require him to serve as a supervisor every day for a month under strict supervision.

At the end of the day, I finally arrived in Tucson, Arizona ~9:30 pm. And into my friend’s car maybe 30 minutes later.   Talk about a LONG DAY!!

One of the first places we visited was Camp Rucker.  It’s an abandoned fort.   It was only in service about 3 years.

As for the ghost town, I visited, walked and filmed in Ruby, Arizona.   What a treat!  I had wanted to see Ruby for years!  I cash assure you Ruby did not disappoint.   Feel free to watch my videos on this fascinating place.

I explored, filmed and visited other places on my trip.  They included:  the Bisbee Restoration Museum and Evergreen Cemetery.   I was given unfettered access to museum areas typically unavailable to visitors.   It’s good to have friends!  There are videos available to watch now as well as others that are awaiting their turn.
