Gordon-Center Dilapidated Barns

The Gordon-Center House’s barns are very likely part of the National Register of Historic Places buildings. Those three barns behind the house were built some time before 1930, about 100 years after the house.

The State of Vermont owns the house, the barns, the Al Weed Fish Hatchery and the 10 acres of land on which these buildings stand. Both the fish hatchery and the house are in great condition. However, those barns are in serious disrepair.

I am appalled at their condition and the State’s Historic Preservation Division should take a look. I wonder how much longer those barns will remain standing without any intervention. Given that a lack of paint is the LEAST of their concerns, I can only hope the State will step up and do the right thing.
